Sunbird Records present as part of Independent Venue Week 2026 DeafDeafDeaf, The Cutter and Poor Effort
DeafDeafDeaf
Independent Band from Greater Manchester, UK.
‘Disarming shoegaze, raucous, feedback-laced post-punk that rings out with the echoes of DEAFDEAFDEAF’s Mancunian forebears.’ ‘A mile away from the average indie b*llocks and a marker for the Next Next Wave. DEAFDEAFDEAF cement their place in the rich vaults of Manc music with their own twist of subnormal soundscapes.’ – Louder Than War.
‘The Band perfectly executes a range of dynamic levels, knowing just when to throw an abundant amount of harsh noise at you resulting in an all more powerful feeling of intensity.’ – SPEW.
‘Touching on all of the unsettling emotions typically found in the melancholy genre, DEAFDEAFDEAF refuse to shy away from the truth.’ – Gigwise.
‘Comparative to the records, the live set exhibits chaos and intensity that has to be experienced firsthand to truly appreciate the immense talents of DEAFDEAFDEAF’ – VOICE
‘DEAFDEAFDEAF have carved for themselves. Undefinable by genre, yet akin to influence, the boys have really pulled together an impressive roster of tracks – especially this early on in their career. Notably building a name for themselves in the live music industry as one to watch, they have a certain grace in creating atmosphere and forging chaos in even the most unconventional of spaces.’ – YUCK
The Cutter
The Cutter are an Electronic three-piece from Manchester. The band is made up of Ewan Kinrade (Vocals), Charlie Marriott (Guitar) & Lucy Green (Synths). Drawing comparisons to New Order and Cocteau Twins, the band’s influences range from Goth to Electronica & Shoegaze. Atmospheric guitars, pulsing drum machines, crooning vocals and booming synths make for a fresh take on the Indie/Goth sound.
‘This is amazing… The Cutter put you in a trance-like state… Enormous swirl of digitized impacts and rhythms’ – William Wolstenholme, BBC Introducing Manchester
‘Electronic dance trio The Cutter set their hometown venue alight, swiftly filling the venue’ – James Kilkenny, Louder Than War (Live Review)
‘Blending noise elements akin to Cabaret Voltaire, woozy gemstone chords spun from Sigur Rós or Jonny Greenwood’s riffage and grooving 808s, the band’s influences range from the primitive nihilism of pre-Pornography Cure to modern
Hip-Hop rhythms built from brittle, bricolage drama and epic soundscapes.’ – Ryan Walker, Louder Than War (‘Pulling Me In’ Single Review)
‘Both dark and uplifting…. Achingly catchy dance hooks… One to watch out for…” – AW Radio (Live Review from 100 Club London)
Poor Effort
Built off British mindsets, begrudging bosses and too much telly, the poor effort project launched in mid 2024, gaining radio support from BBC 6 Music, Radio X, BBC Introducing Manchester and features in DIY Magazine &
Louder Than War.
Based in Salford – poor effort dips in and out of electronic, hiphop & postpunk experimentation.
Known for raw lyricism and a distinct Northern voice, the live show is a vital mix of urban synthpunk, alternative influence and dry observational poetry.
Having signed with emergent Manchester label Home Taping in partnership with EMI North –
poor effort released a debut self-titled EP on October 3rd 2025.
