The People’s Republic of Sunbird Records presents Dragged Up plus Exploding Head and No Peeling.
Dragged Up
Dragged Up formed in Glasgow, in late 2018. They deftly assimilate garage-psych, art-punk, experimental rock, and post-doom.
‘Dragged Up’s style is eclectic and intense, distilling much of the history of alternative music into a single band, and doing so in a highly inventive manner.’ Kim Harten Lam, Bliss Aquamarine
‘Their arty slack-punk attack has roots in the anorak era, but displays a much scummier surface than any of those poppers ever managed. Loose loud psych guitar gets woven into vocals with a certain paisley heft, but it’s all presented without cliches. Very, very cool’ – Byron Coley, The Wire
They have received airplay on Stuart Maconie’s Freak Zone, Louder Than War radio, Radio Free Brooklyn, KEXP and WFMU and supported bands such as Acid Mothers Temple, Smote, The Vaselines, White Hills, Water Damage, and The Hard Quartet who they toured with in June 2025.
Exploding Head
Exploding Head is a band hailing from North and West Cumbria. As proponents of shimmering grunge, this four piece creates a sound which is equal parts the fuzz-fuelled frenzy of Mudhoney and the sky-scraping introspection of Slowdive.
On their debut EP ‘A Polar Bear Stare’, Exploding Head explores and filters these influences through the playful slacker inventiveness of Pavement, the psychedelic drones of Brian Jonestown Massacre and the raw punk power of The Stooges to deliver a release which is as unique as it is affirming, and as raucous as it is accessible.
After a busy UK-wide summer touring schedule in support of their debut release, the collective efforts of Exploding Head were recognised at this year’s Kendal Calling festival, where the band received the inaugural Calling Out award for best emerging artist.
With a new EP in the works and a busy tour itinerary planned, Exploding Head is a band on the precipice of scaling new heights.
