Morton Betts Promise To Make The Landlord Shuffle

1st September 2025 | by Sunbird Records

Next up on our Neotribe preview we have quite honestly one to the most current and exciting bands currently gigging around the North West.

Morton Betts are unapologetically loud, relentlessly energetic, and impossible to ignore. Their sound rips through the space between rock, punk, and everything in between, leaving a trail of chaos and melody in its wake, as witnessed here back in April when they supported Erotic Secrets of Pompeii at Sunbird Records.

Hailing from Lancaster, duo Jack Taylor and Niall Graham are creative driving force behind the band, but the full force hits the stage with Liam Santon’s crashing drums and Joe Lewis’s gritty, infectious basslines. The result? A sound that’s raw, unpredictable, and unmistakably theirs—a collision of post-punk grit, rock ‘n’ roll fire, and progressive flair.

Influenced by the sharp, smart edge of UK alternative and post-punk acts like Do Nothing, Yard Act, Hotel Lux, and Dry Cleaning, Morton Betts aren’t just a band—they’re the sort of characters you can’t help but talk about long after the last chord fades.

Three singles Pebbledashing, Tony Deaf and The Decibels and Mastiff have seen us describe them as having the engery of Artic Monkeys with a sprinkling of Dr. Feelgood and Talking Heads, but what do we know we’re too old to be telling you what you should be listening to.

Pebbledashing was picked as BBC Introducing Lancashire & Cumbria’s Track of the Week, and This Feeling’s Track of the Day on release. Will Wolstenholme from BBC Introducing described it as “a tune about parish council meetings”,which Morton Betts declared is exactly what it is.

Tony Deaf and the Decibels is the second single from their upcoming debut album The River Taviera. Ths song is Morton Betts channeling the energy of a fictional band who play at the pub, called Tony Deaf and the Decibels, giving a rendition of their song “The Landlord Shuffle”. It’s fast, fun, punky, and dance-able.

This is exactly what this band will have you doing, We can’t believe this band is coming back again as this is surely a band who are on the rise, now is your time to catch them in such intimate surroundings.

This is a band for now. Be quick, grab your tickets to Neotribe now while they last
